![]() This machine has been unplugged and out of use for a good 9-10 months - I didn't switch it on before I swapped the CPU as it goes. When I power back on, I'm back to square one. ![]() I then removed power cable, pressed button for 5 seconds which reportedly clears the SMU. When I powered back on, the fans were running full speed, all other symptoms were the same. Pull power plug for 10 seconds, hold power button and insert power, hold button for 5 seconds, wait 5 seconds, press button. I've not noticed any mechanical sounds from the DVD drive but it's quite noisy in this room so I may have just missed them, If I try to insert a CD there is no grab - it just springs back out. If I hold the power button for 3-4 seconds it will switch off as it should do. ![]() I installed the CPU and put everything back together but all I get is a solid white power light, fan at the back running very quietly and no other output - no display, beeps or anything. I had previously upgraded the RAM to 2GB and it was perfectly happy with that.Ī friend gave me a SLA4D Core 2 Duo CPU which was in working order when he gave it to me at least. I have an older Mac Mini which came with a 1.66GHz CPU. ![]()
